Senior Congress pioneer Shashi Tharoor, who appeared to be set out toward a success from Thiruvananthapuram, said he feels like a batsman who has scored a century while his group has lost.

Tharoor's comments came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi drove his Bharatiya Janata Party towards what looks set to be a resonating triumph for a second term in office.

"As my lead nears 50,000 with 72 percent checked, I feel like a batsman who has scored a century while his group has lost! It's a clashing feeling I will set aside some effort to think about," Tharoor tweeted.

Tharoor, who is looking at a third straight success from Thiruvananthapuram, was driving by 48,731 votes over his closest opponent of the BJP.
